BARGE ENGINEER / SUPERVISOR Overall purpose of the position: Monitor the weather conditions and rig motions advice OIM on conditions likely to affect drilling operations and seaworthiness of the rig.

RESPONSIBILITIES -Ensure that accurate calculation of load distribution and weights for daily stability reports are maintained -Coordinates all helicopter and supply boats traffic – supervise movement of materials and personnel to and from the rig -Ensures all navigation equipment is properly maintained and ready for use at all times -Monitors quantities of expendables such as fuel, potable water, drill water, etc -Ensures that cranes are in safe working condition -Ensures all safety equipment, including lifeboats and fire-fighting equipment is in a state of operational readiness at all times -Actively participates in the daily operations meeting with the OIM and other rig department heads -Operates and maintains the bulk system as required -Supervises tests on firefighting equipment, obstacle lighting and audible signal -Ensures all lifting gears are inspected and certified, correctly colour coded, maintained, and stowed properly -Prepares and supervises rig move plans, anchor pattern, and associated mobilization preparations -For jack up rigs, prepares the pre-load calculations and carry out jacking operation s taking note weather and sea condition -Ensures that daily marine logs are accurate end completed. Forward copies of these reports to the shore-base office -Ensures that all flag State, Classification Society, statutory regulation, and minimum manning requirements are complied with -Coordinates and supervises periodic inspections of the rig’s structure, including hull compartments and critical joints -Assists in the effective management of the Preventive Maintenance System and ensures all record are properly maintained -Supervises the operation and maintenance of pollution control system -Prepares Job Safety Analysis for hazardous marine operations

POSITION AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS: -Bsc of Science in Engineering, numeric sciences or High school diploma / professional equipment equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be submitted in lieu of formal education -Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the safe operation of the marine aspect of the drilling unit -Basic computer skills -Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates -This position requires an individual with exceptional organization skills
