GENERAL MANAGER: MARINE OPERATIONS

The company is a wholly indigenous vessel management and brokerage company, specializing in petroleum tanker chartering for the transportation of clean and dirty refined petroleum product cargo with a goal “To become the leading tanker chartering and vessel brokerage company in West Africa by providing in-class internationally acceptable coastal petroleum tankers to the West African downstream petroleum industry.” The company is also involved in the physical procurement and supply of refined petroleum products on a local and international scale.

SUMMARY The qualified candidate will provide expert advice regarding marine operations and leadership development for employees as also serve as the mil point of contact for all marine related issues within the company.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Issue & update marine procedures and implement them throughout the fleet of owned and managed vessel • Co-ordinate with vessel owner worldwide and supervise the vessels delivery and re-delivery operations (including inspection, bunker survey etc) • Direct the Operations Unit • Compile/maintain marine records and performances of all shipping operations (ship-to-ship transfers, loading & offloading , petroleum products transportation etc) • Attend and supervise vessel inspections and ISM Audits • Participate in Tanker chartering for petroleum products transportation • Maintain daily operational contact with all vessels under our management • Liaise with Cargo inspectors for cargo supervision and ullaging up to b/l figures and give instructions accordingly to mother and receiving vessels • Develop and update the Marine Operation Manuals of the Unit of the company • Recommend competency & licensing profile for marine personnel to HR • Work with the various Units in executing his duties and ensure the work is completed on schedule and within budget • Coordinate with vessel owners on the clearance of all marine related issues • Conduct meetings for the purpose of discussing on-going marine protects or other departmental issues within the company so goals and objectives are maintained and develop strategies to improve performance and reduce costs of marine operations • Prepare the marine budget annually and present it to the Management Committee REQUIREMENTS: • Good organization, analytical and people skills and preferably computer literate • Results oriented with the ability to act decisively • Ability to perform under high pressure and meet deadlines • Preferably an Ex-Oceangoing Marine Engine with over 10 years of working experience in an international and National environment with MNCs in General, Dry and Liquid Bulk and Containerized carrier Operations of all types • Having traveled extensively and willing to travel at short notices • Minimizes accidents to zero incidents throughout • Conversant in planning and scheduling effective maintenance schedule • Demonstrates strong analytical program solving with organizational ability • Strong communication with good relationship management in various crisis situations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or related field Minimum 10 years Maritime experience preferred
